Additional linked enhancers will further increase inventory. Chest Enhancers: A new block that, when linked to a chest or factory block, increases that block's storage inventory. Some of them might be more difficult to add to the game, and are not part of the core, simple, suggestion, but are related. If there isn't an appropriate incoming blocks chest on a docked vessel, station, or mothership, blocks will not be sent from the outgoing chest.īonus Ideas: These are other storage-related ideas I've had over time. Chest-To-Core-linked chests on a spaceship docked to that block will be sent here. Docking Module-To-Chest: This will create an incoming blocks chest on a station/mothership. Blocks stored here will be sent to the station/mothership if the docking module has a Docking Module-To-Chest link (see below). Chest-To-Core: A chest linked to a core will designate an outgoing chest. Blocks sent into the spaceship via a Chest-to-Docking-Module link (above) will be sent to this chest. Ship-Core-To-Chest: A ship core linked to a chest will designate an incoming blocks chest. It will send the contents of its inventory into chests in that spaceship with a Core-to-Chest link (see below). Chest-To-Docking Module: A chest linked to a docking module will designate an outgoing blocks chest. Chest-To-Chest: A chest will send the contents from its inventory into the chest it is linked to until the linked chest is full. The Solution: Allow chests to be linked to each other (via 'c' and 'v'), to ship cores, and to docking modules with 'c' and 'v', much like factory blocks. More mining and freight hauling means more opportunities for piracy, raiding, defense, and other fun activities. Removing these logistical hassles will make mining and freight hauling more fun. The Problem: Unloading spaceships can take a very long time due to simple logistics. Efficient transfer of blocks is a low-hanging fruit in the step to an efficient economy and simple ease of life. This solution will allow for efficient transferring of goods between motherships/stations and docked ships. From what I can tell, we all want a game in which salvaging and harvesting and trading are present, but, currently, people avoid them because of chores like these. I have a reasonably large starbase on a server, and the process is so tedious that I often leave behind hundreds or thousands of useful blocks because of what a chore it is just to carry them all around.īut fear not! I have an idea that would be very simple to add to the game (no new blocks required! No grand sweeping changes!) that would make huge differences in the way the game was played. And now you are greeted with the chore of manually carrying all of those items, one chest's worth at a time, from your ship's hold, through the narrow, winding corridors to the airlock, into the station's airlock, and through narrow winding corridors into your factory or storage area. We've all been there-just come back from a lucrative raid on pirates or planet-harvesting missions with (especially after pirate drops) numerous chests full of valuable swag.
